"Modern Aspects of Laser Spectroscopy and (Fibre) Optical Chemical Sensing"

After a brief outline of photonics activities in the Berlin-Potsdam region and at Potsdam University the talk will focus on our current activities in the following fields:

*Spectroscopy with Photon Density Waves

(radiation transport theory, phase-resolved measurements for determination of absorption and scattering properties of opaque materials, dependent scattering, particle sizing, process analytical technology)
*Laser-based Ion Mobility Spectrometry (multiphoton ionization, ion-molecule collisions and reactions in the gas phase, electron detachment spectroscopy, structural analysis of aromatic Ð-stacks, detection of explosives)
*Laser Immunoanalysis and in-vivo Sensing (Förster Resonance Energy Transfer with quantum dots, antibody/antigene-detection, tumor markers, spectral multiplexing, O2-detection in plant and animal cells, monitoring of photosynthesis and hormone activity)
Furthermore, innoFSPEC Potsdam, a joint program with the Astrophysical Institute Potsdam (AIP), will be introduced. The center’s research is focussed on two fields: Multichannel Spectroscopy and Fibre-Optical Chemical Sensing.
